About Eagle Lodge RV Park

Eagle Lodge RV Park is a family-owned campground located on Highway 63 in a rural setting with large trees at the south of Kirksville, Missouri. There are 25 sites available, and all of them are fully equipped with water, sewer, and electricity. There are 13 sites with both 30 and 50 amps electricity, 11 sites with 30 amps, and only 1 with 50 amps. Sixteen of these sites are pull-through sites and are open all year long.

We have a cabin with a restroom that has a shower and a kitchenette. In addition, it has an A/C, furnace, and a TV. It also has twin bunk beds and a sleeper sofa for 4 people to sleep. We have a 39” Fleetwood Avion 5th wheel RV with 3 slide doors, a full kitchen, new A/C, two queen size beds, and a TV. We rent these units nightly, weekly, or monthly.

For our campers’ convenience and safety, we have an in-ground storm shelter, a shower house with restrooms and laundry facilities, a shelter house with BBQ grills, fireplace, fire rings, and picnic tables. The ground at Eagle Lodge RV Park has a 7-acre lawn and amazing large trees.

History of Eagle Lodge RV Park

The original Eagle Lodge RV Park was built by a dentist in the 1920s with log siding exterior and knotty pine interior with a large native stone fireplace. It is currently leased as a residence but was previously a gun and archery shop. Rumor has it that the Eagle Lodge RV Park was named so because eagles would nest in the tall pine trees surrounding the lodge. In the front of the lodge, there is a large metal eagle on display, which was the original mascot of the “White Eagle Oil Company” founded in Ohio in 1911.

They were in business until the 1930s. Each of their filling stations had one of these eagles on display. You can see the original 1925 Gilbert and Barker 10 gallon visible gas pump and two Wayne 505 gas pumps with glass globes from an old Shell Gas Station. You will also find other automotive memorabilia on display including old cars, trucks, tractors, farm machinery, and a large two-story red barn.

More About the RV Park and Its Surroundings

The “Long Branch Creek” runs through the park while unpaved roads go around it. These roads are used for hiking, biking, and walking pets. There is an open area near the shelter house for tent camping and yard games such as croquet, horseshoes, ladder ball, etc. Some of these can be checked out in the office. There is a pool table, Kick Zone table, and a dart game in the office.

We are conveniently located only a few miles from Kirksville Regional Airport, LaPlata, and the Amtrak Station. If you're looking for recreational areas, we have lakes nearby for swimming, boating, and fishing. This part of the state is also a favorite spot for hunters of whitetail deer and wild turkey, and we have hunters visit us yearly from all over. There are numerous public Mo. Dept. of Conservation areas and the “Thousand Hills State Park” near our park.

We have many off-site attractions in the area. In LaPlata, just 4 miles south on Highway 63 is “The Depot Inn”. They have a Rail Road Museum, an excellent Mexican Restaurant, and a winery. A few miles further, towards the west on Highway 156, you will find a large Amish community with various businesses, including a bakery and a general store.

Kirksville is about 5 miles north on Highway 63 with a population of around 18,000 and is the home to two colleges - Truman State University and A.T. Still University. Kirksville has a large YMCA facility, a municipal swimming pool (open year round), Truman State University Sports Complex, and Kirksville Sports Complex. There are many fine restaurants, museums, antique shops, libraries, theaters, and unique shops to visit. You can also enjoy golf at the two golf courses, one in LaPlata and one in Kirksville.
